Excel Binding traces its roots back to our parent company, United Binding Company, founded in 1919. The family legacy began in 1951, when George J. Brisson purchased the business. Soon after, his son Claude and son-in-law John Schuna joined him, helping to expand operations and grow the company’s reputation. Together, they traveled across the country, providing high-quality bookbinding services to county courthouses and abstract offices.

Their innovative spirit led to the design and marketing of one of the first upright plat storage systems, setting a new standard in the industry.

In 1978, Claude’s son, George M. Brisson, became part of the family business. A few years later, in 1986, he founded Excel Binding, continuing the Brisson family’s proud tradition of craftsmanship, quality, and dedicated service.

For over three generations, we have remained committed to excellence—using only the finest materials and upholding the highest standards of workmanship.
